One row per buyer, each answer resting on a sentence from the buyer's own page, linked beside it. Not stated means the page we read gives no answer to that question.Updated

Each buyer's own the buyers' own data-supply, contributor and publisher pages were read through estate-fetch and stored whole (sha256 on every row). For every page, five questions were answered from its own words: says on its own page what it pays, what it says it pays, in its words, what a payment is counted in, paid once or again, who it pays. Every stated answer carries the sentence it rests on, checked against the stored text; 'not stated' means the page read does not address the question. A buyer with several pages reads 'varies' where they disagree. 22 buyers, 23 pages.

What happens next

  1. Tell us what records the company holds, how long it has kept them and whether it is trading, closing or being sold.
  2. We compare what the buyers on the board say they pay for that kind of data, and, for the US and the UK, the tax a licence fee meets on its way to you.
  3. We write back with the figures the buyers publish that fit your data, and the route a licence would take.

No buyer, data partner or marketplace on this site pays to be listed, and no link here earns a commission. Each row is our reading of the buyer's own page on the day we read it, not an offer and not tax advice. How we are paid: when a company licenses or sells its data to a buyer we introduced, we charge 12.5% of the deal, with a minimum charge, if we act as its exclusive agent, or 10%, with a minimum charge, if its data goes into a bundle or the pool, set in writing first; any fee a buyer pays us is credited to the company.

Questions, answered directly

How much do AI labs pay for a company's data?
The company programmes that publish a figure quote six and seven figure sums. micro1 headlines $200k-2M+ and says its payments typically range from $150K to over $2M, Handshake helps companies license data with $100K to $4M+ payouts, Mode says a company's data could be worth $100K to $5M, and Nyne that its partnerships are commonly worth $100K or more. These are the buyers' own ranges, not offers.(What AI data buyers publish they pay: every row, with its source)
Do AI labs buy data directly?
The buyers on this board are mostly intermediaries: data partners that license company records to AI developers, marketplaces and contributor programmes for footage, voice and images, and paywalls that charge AI crawlers for a website's pages. Each row shows what that buyer's own page says it pays.(What AI data buyers publish they pay: every row, with its source)
How much do AI companies pay for video footage?
The two capture projects on the board pay by the accepted hour of recording: Claru's closed wearable camera posting listed $35 to $40 an hour, and Chemin's egocentric video project pays USD 3 per accepted recording hour, plus USD 0.25 for quality control. Footage that fails their quality checks is not paid.(What AI data buyers publish they pay: every row, with its source)
Is it a one-off payment or a share of sales?
Both exist. micro1 says it pays in full within 30 days of acceptance, and Murf describes a single transaction. Troveo pays on every sale it makes of a dataset, Shutterstock gives contributors a share of the contract value through a pooled fund, and TollBit and Cloudflare let a website set a charge each time an AI system reads its pages.(What AI data buyers publish they pay: every row, with its source)
Why do so many buyers publish no price?
Most of the pages we read describe a process and leave the figure to a quote: 14 of the 22 buyers say nothing on their page about what they pay. A page that gives no figure is shown on the board as stating none, never filled in with a guess.(What AI data buyers publish they pay: every row, with its source)
Is a data licence fee taxed when it is paid?
It can be. In the US a payer reports royalties of $10 or more on Form 1099-MISC and may have to hold back 24 percent as backup withholding. In the UK a royalty paid to an owner abroad has income tax deducted at the basic rate, and a company's licence income meets corporation tax at 19% on profits of £50,000 or less.(What AI data buyers publish they pay: every row, with its source)

The question this page is here to answer

What does each buyer of data for AI training publish, on its own page, about what it pays, in what unit and on what terms?

A published range is only the start: what a buyer pays turns on the kind of records, the years they cover and who owns them. Describe what the company holds and we will reply.
